Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2025: Sponsorship Invitations Start July 28
If you’ve been waiting to reunite with your parents or grandparents in Canada, this could be your year. On July 28, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will begin sending out invitations to apply (ITAs) under the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP).
This year, IRCC will send 17,860 invitations over approximately 2 weeks. They will accept up to 10,000 complete applications.
Who Is Eligible for the 2025 Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship?
This year’s PGP intake will not open to new submissions. Instead, IRCC will draw from the existing 2020 interest to sponsor pool. If you submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 and have not yet been invited, check your inbox, and your junk or spam folders, starting July 28, 2025.
Don’t miss your invitation! IRCC will contact potential sponsors via the email address provided in 2020.
How to Submit a Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Application
If you receive an invitation to apply, you’ll need to submit a full application electronically through one of IRCC’s online platforms:
Permanent Residence Portal (for applicants submitting on their own)
Representative Permanent Residence Portal (for those using an immigration representative)
Be sure to gather all required documents and meet the income requirements outlined in the PGP eligibility criteria.
Didn’t Receive a PGP Invitation? Super Visa May Be Your Best Option
If you're not selected in this year's PGP intake, don’t worry. The Super Visa Program is an excellent alternative for family reunification.
Benefits of the Super Visa:
Valid for up to 10 years
