TRV & eTA processing and ease on travel to Canada.

Temporary Resident Visa and eTA Processing Resumes

IRCC has confirmed the information regarding resumed processing of TRV and eTA applications was incorrectly posted on the governments website and has since been removed.

As such, the temporary suspension on processing of visitor visa applications for those not eligible to travel to Canada due to the travel restrictions remains in place.

Applications for visitor visa applications, as well as eTA applications submitted online will continue to process for those who can prove they are eligible to travel to Canada at this time.

Travel Restrictions Lifted For Some Foreign Nationals

As of June 8, 2020, at 11:59 EDT, immediate family members will be able to enter Canada. For better clarity, foreign nationals are eligible to enter Canada if they are an immediate family member of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and do not have COVID-19 symptoms. An immediate family member is a spouse or common-law partner, dependent child, parents or step-parent or a guardian or tutor. The exemption applies to all foreign nationals entering from any country as long as their visit is at least 15 days long. Everyone must self-quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.
