New ministerial instructions confirm processing of new and existing applications for Temporary Residence.
The government has provided further clarity on the updates released since June 8, 2020 and it’s good news for those wishing to reunite with their loved ones in Canada!
The new instructions took effect on June 10, 2020, and will expire on June 30, 2020.
Applications Submitted from Outside Canada
Work permits, study permits and visitor visas of foreign nationals outside of Canada must be submitted using electronic means.
Temporary Suspension on Processing Temporary Resident Visas (TRV) and Electronic Travel Authorizations (eTAs) for Visitors
The temporary processing suspension does not apply to foreign nationals who are exempt from the travel restrictions and travelling to Canada for essential purposes. Canada will continue to process these TRVs and eTAs.
Immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents can also obtain the necessary documentation to enter Canada at this time. Immediate family member means:
Spouses or common-law partners
Dependent Children
Grandchildren
Parents or step-parents
Guardians or tutors
Essential Travel Requirement
Immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanents residents are eligible to travel to Canada for non-essential purposes.
Immediate family members will be permitted to enter Canada as long as they:
Visit for at least 15 days
Self-quarantine for 14 days upon entry (this is mandatory)
Do not have COVID-19 or any symptoms of the virus
